This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. Basically, the electric swaybar assembly (p/n 52060300AD) from a JK Wrangler Rubicon is available from the dealer parts department for approximately $70. This low price is probably an error, but for the time being, it is being honored by the dealer.

Folks are taking this swaybar assembly and retrofitting it to their previous generation Jeeps. This JeepForum thread (http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=358591) by Paul Tyler describes the process in superb detail as he installs it under his YJ.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it'd work on TJ without serious modification. Also, since this caught on, the swaybar assembly has been on backorder. I ordered one for my Cherokee, but whether or not it'll fit has yet to be determined. If it does fit ... that will be so - freaking - awesome. :wings:

No kidding! This is cool. I hope it fits for you. Do you purchase an OE switch with the unit, too?

Nope, I'd have to go with an aftermarket switch. I don't think a JK switch would fit in an XJ, and I don't have an open slot anyway. Basically, on the JK, the swaybar is computer controlled - you yank the circuit board from the swaybar assembly to expose bare wires, and then wire it up to an aftermarket switch and relay. Shouldn't be much different than installing auxillary lights, or something like that. :)

Rats!! It does NOT appear to be something that can be fabricated to work on a TJ due to TJ sway-bars living on TOP of the frame. Just no space up there-especailly with a winch mounted up front.

There is another option for the TJ's...can't recall who makes it, but there is an air operated disconnect available. Unfortunately, it was way more $$$ than this is.

UPDATE: DaimlerChrysler cancelled all orders and raised the list price to $1,700. Thank you, come again!

Man, that sucks. How can they not honor an order that was already placed for a specified price? Pretty lame, but that's DC for you :littlefriend:

I believe ORO makes that. http://www.offroadonly.com/

There is also the Currie anti-rock swaybar that seems to be quite popular. I don't have any personal experience with these items.
