Hello all. I heard of this site from some guys in Pismo during the Surf n Turf event. My compliments to the site and the people that use it. I've been lurking around since Pismo trying to get a feel for it and I've got to say, it's probably the most welcoming site around.
Here's a few pics of my Unlimited and Tentrax at Rubicon Springs and other spots on the Rubicon.

Wow, incredible Wrangler! Nice to see some shots from the 'con too, what an awesome place (despite the crowds).
Welcome to our little plot on the internet :camping:
Just wanted to say :wavey: Awesome looking Jeep/Trailer combo. I look forward to seeing it in person. I do not believe we have a tentrax represented on the board. Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. I love the con, hate the crowds/loud music. I've owned the tentrax for four years now. Used to tow it with an 02 tj. If I were in the market for a trailer now, it would be a chaser hands down. I'm very impressed with them. I think it was the best choice four years ago as far as a complete package, but I really like the new suspension design of the chaser.

Again what every one else has said. How do you like your Walker Evens? Are they a pain to keep balanced?

Thanks for the kind words guys. I love the walkers. In fact I love them so much that I bought a set for the trailer to match. As far as having them balanced, I must admit they have not been. I have about 17,000 miles on this combo walkers/bfg krawlers(37"). They have been rotated and abused and still run very nice. However, the next ones will be balanced.
My father runs them (I have no idea why he needs a beadlock for his tow rig, but who am I to question my father? He's old...he can do what he wants. He deserves it) on his 06 Cummins with a 35" procomp all terrain. He has his balanced and they have held the balance nicely. He also puts a ton of miles on his truck driving over Donner pass from sacramento to reno bi-weekly.

I finally got tired of fighting over the lack of usable storage space in the Unlimited. This is mostly due to the way I had my rollcage built, so it's my own fault.
When I had the rig built, I requested the fab guy to replace the rear seat with a mastercraft seat. I also asked him to move the rear seat a little further back, thus affording my back seat passengers more leg room. I asked for enough room to fit an ARB fridge back there. It's a tight squeeze for the fridge and powertank, but it worked for long enough.
The more I have used the jeep, the more I aware I became of the fact that there's usually only two of us in it on most trails. Behind the front seats, I have my harness bar. This bar is removable to aid in passengers accessing the rear seat (The bar has never been removed). The rear bar however never had this feature.
I asked my friend Sam, owner of Samco Fabrication in Reno to assist me with adding this feature to the rear harness bar. One day later, voila! Here's how she looks now (I apologise for no before photographs, my head was hua).
The first pic shows the front harness bar in place with the quick disconnects (This bar has never been removed. If you wanted to, all you would have to do is remove the four allen head bolts). If the bar is removed your shoulder harnesses would be removed also leaving the lap and anti-sub belts in place.

Here's the rear harness bar removed with a close up of the coupler (Man that bar is dirty!) These are pre-paint as you can tell.

Here is the cage side.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d127/ruffian05/100_1246-1.jpg
And here's a look loaded with Pelican cases (1660 on bottom 1650 on top)
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d127/ruffian05/100_1244.jpg
Finally cases, ARB fridge and Powertank mounted. The small rollcage mounted bottle is dedicated for lockers and the polished tank is for tires and tools. I'll probably switch to a 10 lb. tank and mount it on the drivers side roll cage.

I really like how it turned out. It's now a lot easier to access the rear area.

Your jeep looks really sharp, I love the look of Krawlers on a jeep. I was going to ask for detailed shots on the roll cage and if it was a kit or a custom job, but you beat me to it. It looks really sharp. Was it built off the stock cage or was it a complete ground up build?
Why did you go with C02 opposed to an OBA kit?

Since you lost the rear seat, adding a set of these storage boxes will keep all your little stuff locked up and within easy reach. Recovery gear, winch remote, first aid kit, rags, etc are all easily accessed from the outside of the jeep....just unzip the window (no need to remove it), open the lid and there it is.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The stock cage was removed and we started over fresh. I went with co2 because I was ignorant. I wanted less moving parts to fail. I had the chance to be one of the first non-comp guys to get this setup (The Jet-pack), so I did. I have an extra bottle in case one runs empty while out (I have not run both tanks empty yet. I have however thought one was filled and it was not). I can also fill the jet pack tanks from the larger one, although I haven't done it yet.
I thought I would be doing mainly rockcrawling. Well you can only deal with the b.s. for so long. Now the idea of extended overland trips away from the crowds seems to be the path I'm headed down.
I will be adding an oba setup in the future. I just have to decide if I want it vehicle mounted or removable from rig to rig. It's just one less thing to worry about (The need to have your tanks filled before you head out). Also one consideration, the cost to fill the 15lb tank is around $35.00-40.00 in reno. It started out at $15.00 and they did it while you waited. Now, you have to leave your tank overnight, which is another source of worry.
Let me know if you have any other questions or want specific photo's. I will gladly tell you what I would do differently and where I feel I made mistakes, in order to help you.

Ha, you tease! Who makes them? I didn't know these were available for our rides. Very cool. How tall are they? I wonder if they would fit with my cage and rear passenger grab handles? In one of the pics you can see the beginning of the rear grab handle.

You're not alone. A number of us started out bouncing off of rocks...and some still do on occasion (myself included)....but there is just something about a nice relaxing week down in Baja that you just can't get while dragging your jeep over house sized rocks.

Ha, you tease! Who makes them?
They are one-off....I started adding a rail on each side to use as a tie-down point for my gear....and things got out of hand. Those are the result. I have no "plans" per-sey...but can provide detail photo's and dimensions if someone wants to reproduce them. Realistically, the volumes would be to low to reproduce them profitably unless you had all the right equipment (which I don't...) and the logistics end already set up (I don't).

I guess we are lucky here in Tucson. It runs $5.42 to refill a 10lb and $6.53 for a 20lb CO2. It helps having a bottling company local. Takes 5 minutes.
I have ran a converted a-c compressor OBA system for years on a YJ and wrote an article on how to convert that was posted on AzVJC.org. (Look in the tech section near the end.) It was very handy and it out performed most everything. Now I drive a blown TJ and have little room under the hood for a compressor so I went to a 20lb tank. It makes life simple to refill my trailer tires or someone else with a portable tank. I am sure there are multiple trade-offs though.
Liked your pictures. Don't you find 37" tires somewhat expensive to run up and down the highway? Interesting choices. You have done allot to organize your space. I certainly like the frig and tank set at the rear of the Jeep, making it very assessible.

We have seven up in town. I'll tey them. Thanks for the tip. This was built as a second vehicle, so it doesn't really see that many highway miles. It only has about 15,000 mile on it and it's an early 04. I love those tires, they work great. I just bought the replacement set and they will be going on soon.
