Finally got around to installing the Lumina Z34 hood vents I bought on eBay a while back. I never had any problems overheating, but I tend to run my electric fan a lot on the trail, so I figured these would help out a bunch.

Install was pretty straightforward; measure 10 times, cut around the hood crossmember, trim the vent a bit to fit and bolt it in. I was left with a 1/8" gap since the Z34 hood has a nice recessed area for the vent to fit in, so I filled it in with black RTV. You can kinda see the crossmember through the vents in the pic, I sprayed the exposed portion black so it didn't stick out like a sore thumb.
It only took me 2 days working on and off and three trips to Rural King for hardware to get it done :D

It's kinda cool to watch the heat rising out of the vents at a stoplight, and I know it will help keep temps under control while on the trail.

Any questions, let me know!

I was running hot on mine, so I put the Le baron hood vents on mine. It lowered the temp by 5-10*. Just what it needed

Now, as I see you have snorkles and such, can I ask a question about water?

Do you get water over the hood and will that, or rain for that matter, cause any issues?

Like the idea, just have not found vents I like yet...

The last time I was in water deep enough to touch the windshield, I didn't have the vents on, but I don't think it would be an issue. Besides I don't think I will go that deep on purpose again :ylsmoke:

Rain is no issue either. When it rains heavy enough (parked) to accumulate on the engine it evaporates pretty quickly with a visible puff of steam about a minute after I start the engine.

IllianaXJ, Where are you at in Indiana? I grew up in Abington and Centerville.

Vincennes. Right on the IL border about an hour south of Terre Haute and an hour north of Evansville.
