Bruneau River (Idaho)Rafting

Did a spectacular rafting trip a few weeks ago in SW Idaho on the Bruneau River. Very remote and somewhat difficult to access but worth it! The float was about 40 miles, 3 days, 2 nights and can only be run a few weeks every spring durng runoff. It was my first time being the boatman and this trip definatley put me through the wringer. We used my friends little 13ft Tributary.The majority of the river is class II-III but the last day has 10 class IV's with no scouting really possible. Read and run was the name of the game. It was by far one of the most beautiful places we have ever been!

Awesome trip. It's on my list of rivers. What were the temps like? What was the CFS?

I have a 10' SOTAR that is a little hot rod on the river but it limits the amount of equipment we can carry. Looking at getting a 14' SOTAR in the next few years.

The temps were in the upper 60's, 70's with thunderstorms. When we went the river was 1200cfs. I wouldn't want to take a raft on it much lower than 1000cfs. One rapid "The Bone Yard" in "Five Mile Rapid" is quite a ride and doing it in a raft at low water wouldn't be pretty.

Nice writeup on Saline Valley. We frequent the area as you could probably see:)

Just what I needed, another river to go run HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I'll be looking at this trip as soon as I get home from riding tomorow. Can't wait to see some float pics.
