Family changes dictate the sale.

Would love to sell her to an Expo person, but she will go on eBay in two weeks.
Asking $23k, located in Austin, TX
edit: I might be open to some trades (diesel 4x4, 100 series LC, built 80) + cash.

Bummer to hear it Dave but such is life... What a wonderful vehicle that someone will have and you couldn't be selling it at a better time (spring). Secretly I have been considering perhaps selling my project related to funds and getting married this year, and just buying a 60 (sort of full circle) :) But I am only about 30% on that... I hope it works out for you and certainly understandable! Say hi to Arcteryx for me too! Cheers, Andre

That is and always will be one of the all time great cruisers (Want to trade an 80 series and some cash).

This “Princess” was previously owned by former Toyota Trails writer and current Expedition Journal senior editor Henry Cubillan.
Overland Journal maybe?
;)
Super cool truck. I hope she finds a good home.
cheers

OMG, OMG, that is sooooooo nice. Your asking price is excellent too, even north of the border imported diesel cruisers are commonly available for that price but with no where near the work/effort/extras in them (even bone stock).
EDIT - didn't know if it was polite to put cruiser classifieds from BC, Canada too show how sweet of a deal your cruiser is!

The thing is that engine is a completely different beast than the factory diesels. Only the very late model 12H-T and later factory diesels compare as far as driveability and power... It is an American made fairly industrial commercial Cummins engine that is very well built, with noise being really its only negative aspect I think... Otherwise it is a tank, gobs and gobs of torque and with the turbo it feels like V8 power on the highway, and early to mid 20s in fuel mileage... Direct engine, the vehicle can run on a 9 volt battery if you have one lying around- all day! The engine is also literally "brilliantly simple" in my opinion, I think there is only one nut on the entire engine that is hard to reach...
I had a factory Toyota diesel HJ60 that was a great truck but the Cummins engine is much better.. . Again other than noise beinh the only strength versus the Toyota engine...

Your right, the 12H-T and later 1HD-T are very nice engines; BUT the part costs for two friends with 1hd-t motors is through the roof. This for engines that have on average only 60-70 thousand miles, but they also sat for years in Japan before being imported.
Toyota + Cummins = Perfection (almost).

Posted new pictures of the interior and roof rack. I've also had a new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing installed. Shifts really smooth.
Will consider trades for a 100 (built or not).

Here's a quick bump before I put her on ebay next week.
Also, here's a recent ebay auction of an FJ60 with a 4BT. As you can see, it has less features, upgrades and history that mine offers.

Good luck Dave, sorry to see her go... I threw in a bid for $5200 mostly because, imagine if I got this truck for $5200! LOL... :)
Good luck with it and I'll be watching! I wish I could afford it personally!

No worries. I think it should hopefully sell pretty well. Again, a hell of a cruiser. If I could afford it I would be all over it... I, like many others, have been drooling over this cruiser for over 10 years and largely shapes why I am even on this site today... :)
Here's a pic of Cubillan, who I've only ever met once, from approx 1997 on a trail about 10 minutes from where I went to high school in Massachusetts :)

Freaking small world. I'd love to meet you one day Andre and buy you a beer for all of the help you've given me.

No worries Dave at all of course! :) Yes look forward to that beer assuming I ever make it down there. I have that interview with the company in Houston on Friday but looks like I will get to stay here if I get the position... Working for the largest biodiesel producer in the country, so hopefully it works out and crossing my fingers but with these market shifts I have no idea of the possible outcome and the company taking on new positions :) But that should run me through Austin a few times so will hopefully indeed get to meet you and enjoy that beer :) Also looks like SXSW is in full force right now, I noticed it on the front page of the NY Times on Saturday, cool enough, I would love to check out that event :)
Looks like whomever ebay user r***i and his alternate personality r***r wants it pretty badly, already been outbid again :) The good news is you already have 8 bids on the board. I hope it works out for you, again a hell of a truck. Cheers!

Sorry to hear the guy backed out. That seems to be a common thing on Ebay nowadays. Makes it very frustrating for the honest buyers and sellers out there.
If I wasn't getting ready to buy a house I'd be taking it off your hands. I've been looking to buy a 60 series that was in good condition and yours definitely goes above and beyond that description. I hope it does go to an Expo member. I think we're the only ones who could truly appreciate it. Good luck with the sale!

Anyone know if TLC does consignment sales or if they buy trucks outright?

I think they usually do consignment, shoot them an email.

She's headed to LA. Sold it to a guy that used to live here in Austin, but now lives in LA. Works for one of the studios.
Now to find me a nice 100 series!!
