Expedition Portal is a community of expedition travelers intent on exploring the distant and remote places of the world. Society today encourages people to live life through the accomplishments of others, as shown on TV and in movies. The real challenge is to turn off the TV and explore the world around you, even if that means a day trip to the local mountains. An expedition does not need to be a million dollar, multi-year attempt to cross continents, but a team of individuals undertaking a journey for a particular purpose. What that means is taking your travel to a slightly deeper challenge, making an attempt to better understand and conserve the areas we explore. To give more than you take, and to ensure these areas are available for future generations. More details on What is Overlanding? here. Enjoy the journey, The Expedition Portal Team |

Persephone Crittenden Editor A citizen of the world, Persephone grew up on the move. With an Air Force father, she had experienced five different countries by the age of 5! Eventually she stopped looking for a “home” and embraced the ever-changing face of adventure. That has led to a broad career encompassing acting, dancing, educational consulting, amateur surfing, mountain climbing, volunteer management consulting in developing countries, and most recently, clinical psychology. Persephone has written and edited numerous articles ranging in topic from educational equity to the psychology of travel. She has also edited two books. Currently (and somewhat restlessly) based in San Francisco, Persephone has traded in her 1988 Land Cruiser Troop Carrier for a BMW 335xi (still all wheel drive!) while she divides her time between tending to the needs of her patients, writing, editing, and exploring.
